2023
We've not only met but exceeded our goal, securing ample funds to continue the meal program at Sanjiwani School. The surplus funds are set to be strategically utilized in procuring vital school supplies, extending our impact to benefit schools and communities in need across the country. This initiative goes beyond the confines of a single school, radiating positive change throughout various areas.
Your generous contributions have played a pivotal role in ensuring that students will now have the essential tools for a more efficient educational journey. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for these young minds.
2017-2018
In 2017, we got enough money to rebuild Sanjeevani School! This was a big deal because the school will have two floors with eight classrooms, even a library! It's like giving the school a makeover to make it better for learning.
We're so grateful to all the people who helped. You're not just fixing a school; you're helping kids have a better place to learn. It's like building a bright future for them. Thank you for being a part of this amazing journey with us! ?
2015-2016
Shortly after the initiation of the meal program in 2015, a devastating earthquake struck, wreaking havoc and demolishing Sanjeevani school. Deemed unsafe by the government, the remnants of the old school had to be cleared, leaving behind only memories.
In the aftermath of the destruction, a temporary solution emerged. This picture captures the resilience of education in the form of a temporary aluminum-sided structure that now houses the students. This makeshift arrangement, while serving as a testament to the unwavering spirit of learning, is a steppingstone towards the reconstruction of a more permanent and secure educational environment.
DALITS
The Dalit community in Nepal has long endured social and economic marginalization, facing discrimination and exclusion within the caste system. Traditionally designated as “untouchables,” Dalits have struggled against societal stigmas, limiting their access to resources and opportunities.
While legal measures and affirmative action have been introduced to address these challenges, the community still contends with issues like poverty, inadequate education, and healthcare disparities.
The School
Sanjeevani School in Nagarkot, dedicated to the Dalit community, is a vital elementary institution with five classrooms, despite its lack of electricity. This school stands as a crucial center for learning. The commendable initiative of the Nepal Club introduced a meal program, benefiting around 60 students and making Sanjeevani a cornerstone for the well-being and education of young minds within the Dalit community in Nagarkot. The resilience and impact of this school echo beyond its walls, symbolizing hope and progress for the entire community.
