Tharu

The Tharu people are an indigenous ethnic group residing primarily in the Terai region of Nepal, particularly in the districts bordering India. Renowned for their rich cultural heritage, the Tharu community has its language, customs, and traditions. Historically, they have been closely associated with agriculture, displaying expertise in cultivating the fertile plains of the Terai. The Tharu people have distinctive dance forms, music, and art, contributing significantly to Nepal’s diverse cultural landscape. Despite facing historical challenges, the Tharu community continues to preserve its unique identity and plays an integral role in the cultural mosaic of Nepal.

THE SCHOOL

Established in 1990, the school serves as an educational cornerstone, offering access to quality learning for Tharu children. Its primary role is to empower the Tharu youth by providing them with academic knowledge and skills, fostering an environment that respects and preserves their unique cultural identity.
