Majhi
The Majhi people are an indigenous community in Nepal, primarily known for their connection to rivers. Living in the hilly and Terai regions, the Majhi are often associated with traditional occupations such as fishing, boat-making, and transportation. Their lives are closely intertwined with the rivers, and they are skilled in navigating the waters. The Majhi community has a unique cultural identity, with distinct traditions, language, and customs. Despite facing social and economic challenges, the Majhi people play an essential role in the cultural tapestry of Nepal, contributing to the diversity and richness of the nation’s heritage.
THE SCHOOL
Shree Manakamana School began in 1991 to help kids in Majhi Village. It’s the only school there for the Majhi community. The school’s main aim is to give good education to Majhi children while respecting and understanding their culture. Manakamana School is not just a place to learn; it’s like a center for the village to grow together. The school ensures that Majhi kids get the education they need while also keeping and celebrating their special traditions.
